2018 High School Master Chefs Culinary Competition
San Diego County
The San Diego High School Master Chefs Culinary Competition is a fun challenge that provides aspiring culinary students with a taste of a live-judged competition. Students will collaborate with their team to showcase their ability and knowledge in dish preparation, safe food handling procedures, and kitchen standards.
All local high school culinary arts students are invited to compete in this year's amazing event. If you are a CTE Culinary Arts teacher in San Diego County and interested in having your students compete, please contact us soon.

- Students will be judged on set up and preparation as well as final dish presentation and knowledge of their menu.
- After dishes are completed, teams will pass to the Palette Room where the judges will complete their review.
- To finalize the event, we will have the awards ceremony from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM followed by open Q/A sessions with the students and judges.
2018 THIS YEAR
New class, and a new kitchen, this years competition is set to impress.
The competition is being hosted courtesy of the San Diego Art Institute at Mission Valley where enrolled students have 6 separate kitchens dedicated to the curriculum among other career specializations.
There will be a panel of celebrity guest judges to give the students feedback with leaders of the industry on their process and technique.

FROM CLASSROOM TO KITCHEN
Teams consist of 4 students from local high schools, and 1 instructor sponsor. These highly passionate chefs in the making work through the year learning and creating in preparation for the event.
Students go on to receive a tour and gift certificate to a participating restaurant as well as an introduction into real world kitchen chefs.
Facilities are provided by a generous contribution from the Art Institute of California - San Diego, in Mission Valley to allow for use of the classrooms.
